So I was thinking of temporarily switching my VT Oliver and HM Oscar to each other's respective tanks to give them a change of pace.

Is this a terrible idea or should I just try it?

Well, it's recommended you switch decor every now and then, so I think it's a good idea. I'd do it after a water change, then conditions in each tank will be as similar as possible and you shouldn't have to acclimatise :good:

Cool, I'll have to try it soon! :)

I did this with my old two and 1 of them started sulking after the change and never recovered from it only to die from starvation.

Im not trying to put you off the idea just giving my experience. :good:

i did this with my two boys, storm and friday, mainly because friday was my bed betta and would flare at me every single morning, i got tired of the hostile wake up so i switched him with the calmer storm. neither was any worse for wear, friday continued to flare at me and storm just greets me now.

I'd be concerned that there could be a contaminant in one tank that could spread to the other fish. . .(I'm just paranoid though and use all different syphons, etc., for each tank).

i'd say give it a go - - what i used to do is take each fish's favorite decoration/ornament and move it with them - it seems to make the transition much easier when they recognize their safe point

Well I ended up trying it... not more then an hour after Oscar's anal fin was all sliced up- from the ludwigia in that tank I'm sure.

Oliver was fine, but Oscar seemed nervous and didn't quite like the move (I think he's rather fond of the cories- I see him "shoaling" with them often and trying to eat with them.... he kept scuttling along the bottom looking for them.) I ended up switching them back to their original tanks and none seem worse for the wear. :)
