My 2 hoplos love it, but nowhere near as much as my plasies... There's literally a flock of platies round it with morbidly large bellies... Your swordies would love it! - peel it and boil it until soft (basically, how you would have it) and just chuck it in! :good:
If only I could convince my mother to let me use a potato for that... because it would mean boiling it without salt... she gets mad if i'd boil a potato just for the fish. Lol. But doesn't seem to have a problem when i ask dad to buy a whole salad just for ONE fish.

Guys, thanks for all of your imput! The bettas are in seperate tanks AA. She had those stripes when I bought her. The lfs guy said they would 'sparkle up nicely'. Idiot. I'm not saying they're not stress lines though. She moves up and down the glass a lot. It's a hex tank that she's in so maybe it's not wide enough? Her tail was like that too, a little stump. It hasn't grown since I got her.

Bettas tend to do the glass surfing when bored.
And i sooo want sparkling gouramis, but idk if i could keep them in the 20 gal with my swordies. The girls are really nasty with their pecking at times. Even the male has had enough of them and is zipping away as soon as they approach him.

I had 3 sparklers in the 10 gal but one died last week. They're beautiful, aren't they? I'll get another to bring the numbers up to three. I'm not sure if I'll keep the betta. I have live and fake plants and rocks in there so I don't know what else to do if she's bored.

Time to put the 3 year old to bed Lovelies. I'll watch some of the closing ceremony of the Olympics then. I'll miss the Olympics!

Great news Staxx, my father has 2 juvenile Peppered Corys he raised up from fry in a community tank!

yeah there must have been about 20 eggs total cuz i can see the slime left over. but most of them have been eaten. i think there is about 9 or 10 left stuck to the glass.

I still can't decide on the tanks. Apparently, I wasn't supposed to know about the birthday tank. Thanks mom  so now that's gone up in the air, and who knows if I wait if I'll actually get it

Hey guys, I just got the news!

So for some backstory, my dad shares his work office with the secretary, who has aquariums at home. She is kinda a dense clutz when it comes to fish, and when I heard her stocking i almost died. I sent her an essay of an email explaining stocking, cycling, filters, cleaning, etc. She never read it. Then one day she announced to my dad she bought a new 5 gallon tank ( fluval chi) with two harlequin rasboras. I told my dad to tell her that harlequins need bigger tanks and 6+ rasboras to be happy. Instead, she only took half my advice and added 3 more rasboras to the tank. She had cherry shrimp, which she boiled alive when she turned the heat up to 90!!!! Then she came to work one day with tiny plastic bowl and a betta telling my dad "here, for you" The bowl was so tiny, my fist couldn't fit in it if I tried. She probably bought it as a "thank you" gift for my dad and I going out and getting low light plants for the plant box for her, and she never once said thank you. My dad knowing better than to put the betta in our 20 gal (we have gouramis) asked if he could put it in the fluval chi. She aggreed. But with no one to clean the tank, me and my dad would take the 45 minute drive to his work office every weekend to clean the gross tank (she really overfed) This went on for a month, and finally she was to move out of my dad's office. She's a single mom with two kids, and "couldn't take care of another tank" (even though we were the ones taking care of it...) so she forced it unto my dad, and now we have rescued the fishies! The 5 harlequins have been moved to the 20 gallon, since the tetras are almost all but gone now, and the betta gets his own fluval chi. I don't like the fluval, the filter and light sucks and it has no lid. But I can cope with low light plants and buying a lid. I might even just get another 5 gallon. I'm going to replace the gravel with sand, but not before a complete scrub down of that filthy tank. He's a gorgeaous little guy, black and purple halfmoon, with turqouise eyes. But he's got badly ripped fins! Nothing TLC and and some StressCoat cant fix. He probably has a poor diet behind him. His name is Alpha the Betta :p

Ah that's great Crossfire! Those fish won't know themselves now, they'll be living in luxury after all that!

yeah i should have done but if im honest im not really interested in fish breeding. partly why i got rid of my mollies and most of the platys.

I microwaved a single pea the other day for the fish
