The New Tank Finished

hi all, i did post a couple of months ago saying i was doing a journal and was going to be posting pics at each stage of the building process. well that didnt happen as we moved house and so i didnt have the internet. ive just got it back on today and so thought id post a finished picture of my self buily tank, stand and hood. its around 250l and only cost me about £70 to build the whole thing.

I would reccomend that you stain the wood. It will look loads better. But I like the design of it! My father is in the process of building my 40 gallon a canopy.
 
nice! why was it so cheap!! it looks alot smaller then 240L
 
it only cost that much because i got the glass for free, its only 40" wide but as its quite deep and tall thats where it gets its volume from.
 
Looks solid mate, well done. On another note though , always liked tanks with sand and gravel, looks nice ...... :good:
 
cool, you make fish tanks then? what kind of glass is it?? looks pretty thick aswell
 
not exactly make, this was my first attemt but i think it turned out pretty well. from research i think i could have got away with 6mm glass but i thought id be safe and go for 8mm all round. id love a one around 8-9 foot across the back wall of the living room but since i dont live on my own that idea is pretty much out the window ha ha
 
Did you work to a guide for the hood? Looks very nice and would mind trying that myself :hey:
