Dave  You make me wish i put tangs in my roma 125 now,

maybe i'll have to get a new tank

its all looking great, love the colours you have in there.

thanks!
i was expecting a few people by now to say, hey thats well over stocked!
but you all probably know its usual to highly stock african rift lake cichlidsb to lessen aggression, assuming fintration is up for it, which it is!
and as you can see they are all in good condition and look happy.
i made sure that she only got single specimens of the fish that would get near 5-6" and small groups of the smaller fish.
though the leleupi are 4" and 3" and chunky but couldn't leave the pair behind for the bargain price of £15, surely you can understand! ha
apparently the caudopunktatus pair off and become aggressive to others, or sometimes form a trio, but its rare, so with the tank only being 125 litre they others will probably have to go, though id like them all to stay, the 2 red zebras and 2 yellow labs will go as the fish grow, i hope the female fire fish settles in, i think its because its a bit smaller than the male and considerably shyer.
i absolutely love the compressiceps, so grumpy looking, i'd have loads but as they get around 6" a single one is sensible in this tank.
obviously in time things might need changing around, especially if we do get the shell dwellers! but all seems well so far!

Been conemplating a larger tank for a while now, just scared of it crashing through the bredroom floor, nearly bought a small tank for the Multis as I wanted to get Gold Occies in the main tank but thought against it, I hate clutter, have a 30" 95ltr tank, on another forum I was speaking to someone who has a four foot long two foot high tank and all thats in it are 6 Multis, they used guppies for the cycle, how cool is that?
I would like Lelupi but I've heard horror stories of them pulling Multies from there shell, would love Black Calvus but tank to tight so tomorrow I'll be overstocked as well, be up to 8 Multies, 4 Julidochromis Dickfeldi and the yellow albino BN (reclusive and shy as he is), watching Multis excavate the tank just now, they are digging where there are no shells (?) bonkers, just carrying sand around abd dumping it, you won't get bored with them.... :good:

Yeah I'll vote for that. :good:
AdAndrews Congratulations with your pics. of the arc.... nice :good:

Dave, funny you saying about the barnacle, for the last two days one of the Multis have been digging under a large Murex shell , they have finally managed to get it tipped over so the opening is facing down the way, it's now burrowing in and out of the shell, no point in tidying up this tank, it will look the way they want it within a few days, I know who's boss

Great Tanganyikan set up....love it. You are going to have a few issues though later on especially if breeding takes place but you know that already, eh? .

Shame you are so far away as I would definitely have the Leptosoma's off you.

I would recommend getting some moonlighting in there (bluelight) if you want to see your Tangs at night.....its a complete change to daytime behaviour

Overstocked?........nah! :shifty:

dorsey, yeah we are prepared for problems both with growth and possible breeding, we have another tank to be set up soon for holding mothers / eggs / fry, whatever occurs.
where did you get your moonlighting from?
also i'll ask you as your set up is almost identical (same tank but 240, same lighting ocean rocks etc) we have quite a bit of algae on the rocks, well not loads but a steady layer, its like a mixture of brown and bright green! is there anything we can do to get rid of it or prevent it? we just got 4 nerite snails and they have all cleared their own patch, took it back down to bright white rock infact! but you get the feeling it would take them about a year, now we are planning on making it 8 snails, adding 4 to the 4 we have now, as they aren't bad looking and do their job, but is there anything else we can do? we have a break of light for a few hours during the day aswel, light on 4 hours in the morning, then off 4 hours then on 4 hours in the afternoon, this is why i do want the moonlight like you said to see them at the times when the light would normally be off!
because the tanks at my girlfriends its going to be difficult putting a piece of paper on it to verify it, and awkward as its in her living room, they would all think im weird! so can't really be bothered to be honest!

its a shame about the leptisoma, the male in particular is stunning, pictures don't totally show how metallic blue it actually is. any ideas how much i should put the pair up for sale for? we bought loads together so don't know how much they was!
thanks for the good comments, i do pass them on to the other half, although its all my hard work! haha

cheers, Dave
