I have new fish on their way to me from California, and as usual, I'll be a nervous wreck until they get here. :hyper: They were sent via USPS Express Mail, at 3:00 p.m. yesterday afternoon and should arrive by that time today.

The package will include a trio of C. melini, 5 C. axelrodi, and 5 C. zygatus. They are all breeders and I hope to get lucky with them too! :D

In the meanwhile, I'll be spending the day puttering around with my tanks and biting my nails!

i have 6 c. melini on my next order from dan my mate. The axelrodi deckeri didnt really do it for me, but the way im going at the moment, im going to have 6 of everything from his list LOL

Good luck Inchy :good: Looking forward to some pics of your new cories. Exciting.

:D

seem to be having quite a few corys resently or my just reading too many back threads laughs ah well congrads

No, Phoenixfish, it's been a while since I've added any new fish except the C. concolor, which were a lucky find at a lfs I seldom go to. I couldn't pass them by. Actually it was last summer since I last went on a buying spree! :fun:

Hi Sp00ky. :)

Six is a nice sized spawning group and is the number I like to have of each kind. Since I can't always get that number, I get what I can. I already have 3 axelrodi (which I think are probably more attractive in the tank than in the pictures) and they have only spawned once then stopped. I'm hoping these will do better and perhaps get the others going too.

I have some melinis too, but they have always been kept in the cory community and haven't spawned yet. They might be a little young too. These will increase my group and I'm hoping to have better luck with this larger group.

The C. zygatus are the only ones I don't have and have never seen before and I'm especially looking forward to getting them. :D

Sounds good! Let us know when they get here and pictures please

Hi Barracuda518, :)

I'm sorry to say that I won't be able to do my usual arrival pictures today. I had to leave my camera in the shop yesterday for repairs and won't have it back until next Monday or Tuesday. :/ But I'll be sure to post them as soon as I get it back.

congrats on the new guys that are coming in. you sure have quite a nice collection of corys these days. how many tanks are you running now??

and i can't wait for more pics of your corys.

The fish, that were scheduled to arrive by 3:00 today did not come. They didn't even get as far as my local post office and right now nobody seems to know where they are.

According to the postal person I spoke to, planes are being delayed due to the recent terrorist plot :eek:sama: and the increased security measures being taken.

I hope they are not sitting someplace where it's hot. :X

Hi madattiver :)

At latest count, I have 26 tanks for a total of 554 gallons of water.

I hope these new corys arrive safely and will post pictures of them (with luck) on Tuesday. :D

Oh thats not good. I hope that doesnt happen with the cories I just ordered

I hope they arrive to you safely :good:

EDIT: Did you get shipping thru the post office? Is this happening with all the other shipping companies too and is it just in your area or nation wide?

Well, I finally have some good news to report.

The package arrived at my local post office sometime during the night. According to the postal person I spoke to, they should arrive at my home before 3 p.m. today and possibly sooner. I took the day off from work so they would not end up having to spend the weekend at the post office, and will be able to get them unbagged as soon as possible.

I'll post again as soon as they arrive.

Hi Barracuda518,

I checked the AquaBid forums, which is the place I would expect to find the most specific information about fish being shipped, and found no reports of other delays. :D

Good, Im glad you know where your cories are now. I bet they are as anxious to get out of those bags as you are to get them out and in their new home. Keep us updated :good:

I'm so happy to finally be able to say they arrived! :kana: What a relief!

They got here at 12:50 edt, after almost a full day of extra travel, but thanks to Chas. at AquaticAngels, they look fine. He did an absolutely superb job of packing them up, used Bag Buddies in generous amounts of water, and secured them well with styrofoam peanuts to fill the huge box. He even sent some bonus fish. I wish I had my camera now so I could show you pictures of the way they arrived.

The C. melini females (and he included an extra one giving me two males and two females instead of a trio) are plump and lovely. The C. axelrodi are looking fine and so are the C. zygatus, although they might be a little pale from the stress. He put in an extra one of those too. :yahoo:

But the real surprise came when I saw the three fancy C. paleatus he gave me! I've been looking for a male or two to breed with my big female of this type and he sent me just what I was looking for. The two older ones are a pair and the smallest is a similar fancy albino.

Here's a picture of my female; try to imagine the new ones looking like this, but with better coloration. That's what they look like.

I'm definitely going to talk to him (once I figure out where to put them ) about getting more of these!

Well, the pH in their bag water is coming up already and it won't be too long before they can settle in to rest in the quarantine tank I have waiting for them. Thanks for all your concern and good thoughts. If I can get my camera back when the shop promised it, I'll have pictures of them all on Tuesday. :D
