hey all,

I was just wondering, how can you tell the sex of balloon mollies? I know that one of mine is definately a female as she has given birth but she could have been pregnant when she was bought, so i need someway to determine the sex of the other balloon mollie.

that and the male has a long dorsal fin and he is smaller than the female

Hey There Are a Few Ways To Tell:

1. Males have a long fun under there stomaches (to make it simple)
2. Females have 2 split more round fins under the stomache (to make that simple also)
3. Males top fin is long and extends further back

the females have a normal anal fin, and the male has a pointed anal fin called a gonopodium

It's just like any other livebearers. The males have a gonopodium (which is a rod-like fin under their bodies) and the female's fin is fan shaped.
