Guys I have 275 custom built with an over flow box. The freshwater tank is cycled and I thought I had lost several tetras recently...they had vanished. They have been found living in the overflow box! The current apparently got them. Now to the question. Is there something I can get to stop the fish from being taken by the evil vortex that will not inhibit the flow or cause clogging issues? Also suggestions on how to get the fish out of the over flow box...the tank is 37 inches tall would be welcome. YIKES!

Do you have the kind of overflow with the 'teeth' that should allow only water into the overflow box? Does the water just flow over the top? Can you stop the water flowing out for a minute and let the water build up just past the top of the overflow and let the fish just swim out?
