I couldn't help walking by the fish tanks (this is a symptom of the betta bug, I believe, for non-aflicted people do not do this) and I saw the most beautiful betta I'd ever seen! He had a yellow head, which transitioned into green, then to blue, then pink and red--Like a rainbow! I said OMG I have to buy him! Even the employee said "Wow! I've never seen a fish like THAT before! That's awesome!" But...out of the corner of my eye was an almost pure white fish dancing around his 1 inch thick betta barrack (sp?) He was frantically flairing at every fish that swam by. Sucker fish! *FLAIR!* Human? *FLAIR!* And then as it tried to turn around, he got stuck between the two walls of his container (it was very small). By contrast, my "rainbow" was just laying on the bottom, seemingly either sick or without personallity. Soooo, I guess I fell in love with the little fighter's personallity and so I *scooped* him into a cup and brought him home. He's less timid now than in the picture, which I took this morning before feeding him. He actually ate like a healthy fish (unlike my first two when I first brought them home) and is now flutterign about his bowl. It's just a little over 10 cups of water, but next week I'm going to move him into a 2 1/2 hex bowl like "Shimmers" is in

And while I'm at it, here's Shimmers, in the hex bowl I begged a pet shop for. (It was a dog treat container, but I'd been keeping my eye out for a fish bowl just like it for months and, foof, there it was!)
And last but not least, my patriotic red, white, and sometimes blue guy The blue-ish sheen is only apparent when light hits him right..such as a camera flash! He usually looks red with white tips.
Sooo, it would seem I've been bitten 3 times!
