The Best Fish Shops - North East England

Hi there, my first post. I come up to the North East from time to time to give my son any fish I no longer want, and he often takes me, and the fish to Penshaw Aquatics. I notice the shop is not mentioned here. Google the name for the website.

No couriers so you know your fish havnt been bashed about
and most of their prices are half price off local fish stores like maiden and pets at home

this site is brilliant

Betta Aquaria in Byker - I find the staff rude, but they are generally on the whole very good; fish in good health, clean tanks, net for every tank :). Plus it's a hop and a skip up from home.

Tyne Valley Aquatics - Mickley nr. Prudhoe. They are good, decent selection; they now offer a Aquarium doctor (if you have tank problems they'll come and look at it) - they stock rarer fish too.

I personally HATE Peter Barrats - I've had stock from there and they've been terrible; I've boycotted them from now, frequently 8+ dead neon tetras in one tank is NOT acceptable - I wish they'd go around with a net and scoop them out. They have gorgous betta fish in but I looked at them a few weeks ago, 2 with fungus, 3-4 dead, a couple on their way out. Worst thing was they were cleaning the tanks - the glass and leaving the dead fish right at the front of the tanks. I only use them for buying fish food now since I work across the road from it haha.

No ones mentioned Petmania in Billingham. A good selection of marines. They also have freshwater tropicals and coldwater fish.
There is an aquatic shop in Redcar but i don't know what it's called. Mr Biffster calls it the little shop of horrors  .It's near the train station i think the streets called Birdsall Row.
