I also have one free swimming baby... I've seen it darting in and out of the plants... the rest of the babies are still up with the floating plants.
 
I am going to make a tank divider for the next time since my male is quite bossy.
 
I don't think any of the babies have made it.  My male has stopped protected and I haven't spotted any babies in a few days.
 
I love your statement "I didn't realize it was possible for babies to be so small... a fraction of the size of guppy fry! "
 
I have recently bred my pair of paradise fish, and their fry is ridiculously tiny too! A maximum of 5mm in length! Absolutely teeenie.
 
That reminds me... I am wondering something actually.... if next time, I spot some I put them and the floating plants into a breeder net... would that work?  Or do they need to remain in the care of the male?  I'm not really looking to rear any but it would be interesting to rear one or two!
