Well, yesterday I got the aquaview from BettaMomma which she kindly offered, and rescued a betta from a plastic cup! (Had to keep him in a vase for a day because I actually expected the package the day before but i wasn't around and fedex didn't leave it on the doorstep, anyway.) Transferred him into his new home and he seems well and happy.

At the fish store there were a bunch of them, all looked pretty miserable except for one red one who was flaring like a maniac! lol I resisted the temptation to get him since he seemed the happiest and picked this little cutie. He's settled in well, and last night when i was checking e-mails he was flaring at... nothing! Well, maybe at me, or maybe his own reflection, but i got to see how beautiful he really is! He's as yet, un-named...

And when I came to check on him this morning, I found this!

There aren't even any other fish in the same room lol Oh well, if it makes him happy. It's cool to watch him inspect it and add to it. He's still building right now!

Thanks again BettaMomma!

Geez! That is one happy boy. He's definitely thanking you for saving him from plastic-cupdom. What a cutie. Looks like my Stan. Congrats!!

Thanks. He's my first betta. I never knew they had such character!
He's a veiltail right?

He's so purdy  I saw one like him at Walmart, but didn't get him because I really don't have room. I have containers, but no room. :p
Your new boy is a veil tail, and a cute one at that!
My boy made me a bubble nest under his lilly pad decoration, the other night, and I saw it yesterday, on waterchange day  heh, but he's started a wee one under the pad again. Pretty pitiful, but I just think of the love that went into making it
Glad to see he's happy, healthy and doing wonderfully for you!

Yep, I'd say VT, buuut... In the first pic, the tail looks kinda spikey. It doesn't look as spiky in the second pic, but is he perhaps a comb tail? Or am I halucinating?

He's not interested in Betta pellets at all. I fed him some brine shrimp and he loved it, but I can't feed him that everyday right? what shall i try?

eventually he will start eating the pellets....just give him time....a lot of people are *afraid* when it wont eat and feed it live food everyday and say its spoiled, lol...but 99% of bettas will eventually eat pellets/flakes if they have to...took my first VT 2 weeks to accept them (fed live food every 3 days and pellets/flakes the rest)....my CT takes everything and so does my plakat

Thanks, I'll try that.

He's beautiful and definitely looks happy. Quite a little builder you have. It's like he's a little construction worker. Where's the tool belt? Hey! You could name him "Bob the Builder" Or "Ty" from those home improvement shows.

He looks a lot like my very first betta..... MuShu (after the dragon in Mulan). He had one of the best personalities ever!

Oh he's so cute! I just wanna pinch their cheekies when I see pictures!!

He looks a lot like my Jasper. He has the same dark body with red and blue fins.
He's very lucky to have come home with you!
