Okay so 2 weeks ago my TetraTec 1200 External filter's Prime button became stuck when trying to initiate the filter.
After giving the filter a few taps, nudges, shakes and a few choice words  the button would budge. After starting the process off my self (initiating a syphon manually) the pump did eventually work, with PRIME stuck in place.

Regardless of this, I was still pretty annoyed that my 3 month old Tetra Tec was in the blink! So, I decided to contact Tetra to see what they advised, i did this by using the Tetra Services website.

Within 24 hours they replied saying that I need a replacement head. Apparently this is a common issue with the old style motor heads, and has since been fixed on the new model. They processed the replacement automatically and I am expecting the new head within a week

Well done Tetra , Grade A Service. Buy in confidence :good:

Good stuff. Need to get my finger out and do that.

My primer stuck down after first use.

Hopefully I wont need this....

Is there anyway of telling the older model from the new ( I assume they both look the same?)

I bought my two from eBay brand new but I've no idea where the seller got them. They could have been sitting in a garage for a year for all I know.

Where's the warranty info?

What if you bought from an 'unlicensed' seller or bought it used?

If you go to the Diagnostic link. And select (Prime Button Malfunction), and (Product is under 3 years old) then they should send you one automatically. That is all I did. And they have dispatched me one, without me having to fill in the Warranty page :good:

I filled out the warranty page after, and it stated, my product Invoice had been settled and the product had been packaged and sent to warehouse for dispatch already. So try this mate, as long as its under three years old, dont see a problem :good:

old or new makes no diff is a fault with both, i have a new one with fault :good:

Cheers Al for clearing this up :good:

I don't need it now, it's just for future reference. I was a bit worried as I bought my 2 filters new from eBay

Went to tetra website.

On It is a warranty section with drop down answers to the fault which identifys the problem and the need for a new head. It then prompts you to fill in a form with your details for replacement.

Very easy.
