that's a bit 'tight'.... how easy is it to get the main unit in/out ?!?

I'm thinking cleaning time could be 'fun' trying to get the taps on/off, and the unit out without spilling water everywhere......

easy mate - you just tip the filter and pull it out

I've left the pipes at full length so that I can get it out before disconnecting
It fits just like the 304 I used to have on the planted tank.

They don't seem to be as quiet as the 1200 though - (mind you one of these is a the bottom of our bed)
