Hi, i need a bit of advice, and if anyone can help me in any way i would be very grateful.

I recently purchased a Tetratec 1200 EX from ebay (i know i know) it was meant to be brand new, it looks as though it is. However there is a part that fits onto the filter that the hoses attach to, now this seems to be too small, as though its meant to fit on the smaller model.

I have contacted the seller but not heard anything, i have also contacted Tetra themselves but again not heard anything.

If anyone could give me some advice or any help, that would be great

Thanks

Is it an oval shape (with a lever) that connects the hoses to the filter body? If so it's the hose adaptor unit. Have you tried to fit it? I would have thought that this item would be common across the range; but the two smaller units do use smaller diameter tubing, so, maybe, they are different.

I assume that you have the manual - which part number is it? (number 1, is the one I'm talikng about).

It sounds like you have the part for the Ex700 or 600 contact Tetratec on 08700554032 (can't mind the girls name)they are very helpful. They have sent me parts out within a few days free of charge.

Its the best customer service that I 've received would always buy there products.

Hi, yeah i have tried to fit it, and also, as you say the tubing is different sizes also.

Yeah i have the manual and its part number 1, the hose adaptor

Length of 'D' shape is 115mm, width 65mm. Distance across the centres of the short pipes (with the 'o' seals on them - which go into the filter body) 65mm.

Hope this makes sense/is helpful.

Thanks for the help guys, i have tried to call them but no answer, so i will try monday,

ah cheers mate yeah mine is alot smaller than that,

is there anything i need to know about these filters, i have heard they are good ones

I didn't bother using the carbon media. I now make my own floss pads (item 4) from a large roll of (thicker) floss - loads of it in ebay. Other than that, nothing to report. Good luck getting the adaptor replaced.

fantastic filter, ive been using mine for about 4 weeks now, and i love it,like rob.s says i dont use the carbon either,i use masses of cheap filter floss in the top tray along with the rest of the media, my water is sparkling ( oscar tank) and i would very highley recommend a tetratec to anyone who was looking for a new external

YE, as the others say, remove the carbon and replace with more floss. I use pond floss in mine and it has a course grade firts, followed by a finer one. It cloggs slower :good:

All the best
