In your opinion which would be the best Tetra to get, as a shoal, for a community tank which may feature Corys, Platys, Kuhli Loaches, Rams (these are just examples as atm it has nothing)?

By 'best' I simply mean most peaceful, least likely to fin nip and will generally be happy in a community such as this.

I have red eyes, black phantoms and serpae tetras and they all shoal together beautifully. But I only have black mollies in there with them, so can't say how they'll do with your particular fish.

rummy noses all the way, they are brilliant! and great indicators of bad water chemistry without getting the kit out, all you have to do is look........... bright red noses then we are great!

My neon clan are extremely peaceful. Perhaps TOO peaceful because they don't seem to do anything haha. I think they are the only fish I have that are gentle and stay out of everyone's way, plus they are very pretty :)

I have corys, khulis, and platys in my tanks, the neon tetras and the black phantom tetras get on with them all great. I do find my black phantoms more interesting than the neons though.

I recommend cardinals. I have a school of 10 in with corys, platys, and pearl gouramis, and the way the light plays off them is very pretty. Also, they keep to themselves and don't bother/nip anybody else!

I think they look just that bit more special than neons with the extra colour. :)

I'd recommend Cardinals too - you can see a lovely bright slash of colour from them.
I just added 6 at the weekend and at a distance you can't really see my Harlequins or
Corys, but the blue line on the top shines.

I'm a complete noob at this fishkeeping lark, but they seem happy with their tank mates
too - they even occasionally seem to swim with the Harlequins as one big group.

Black Neons. Elegent, and are pretty hardy as tetras go.

I`ve got a nice school of cardinals in mine alonge with a nice large school of harliquin rasboras,
I also have an angel, 2 chain loaches lots of ottos some chocolate goramis, and a female betta

If you are looking for non-nippy, stay away from the serpae tetras, they are nearly as bad as tiger barbs. For the rest of them, it's just a matter of personal aesthetic preference, they're all non-nippy and will be fine with your fish.

I like my black phantoms. Awesome li'l fish, always swimming around, not aggressive at all. Hardier and more active than neons. :good:
