As money is tight, I am thinking of getting Pond Dechlorinator instead of aquarium stuff.

I found TetraPond WaterSafe: http://www.pond-products.co.uk/TetraPond_W...fe_Aquasafe.htm

However I am a bit dubious about the "colloids" it contains. I am only after basic water conditioner and don't want to add anything unnecessary into the tank. Would this be a problem?

Otherwise is there another recommended pond conditioner?

i use pond doctor

Not sure about the colloids, it says it helps the fish but pond fish are stronger than aquarium fish so it might be too strong. Cant help you much there though!

Ok thanks Aaron. Where can I get Pond Doctor from? Google returns a bunch of sites that have nothing to do with the product itself...

Cheers. A much better price than the 200ml aquarium bottles.

One thing that interests me is that the Pond Doctor claims to help prevent nitrite poisoning - any idea how it achieves this?

Well I guess if you have been using it for a while it hasn't been doing any harm. I will give it a try...

I've been using pond dechlorinator for oh, about 4/5 years now - ever since my tanks started getting bigger

And now I have a 150g with big fish in it that needs a 60g change every week, I wouldn't be without the stuff! I'm not choosy though to be honest - I pick whatever is most economical. The stuff I'm using at the mo takes 5ml to treat 374 litres!
