Just got three tetras from the lfs
two look fine but one has very visible bright red gills. Its like the flap is more open with this fish. He seems to behaving the same but I wonder if he has some infection.
should he go back tomorrow?

I once had this problem with sone tiger barbs there gills where bright red in colour... from what i thought it was is a disease called gill flukes... is the fish scraping itself on gravel and rocks... do some water changes and wash out your gravel and if possible quarenteen the fish in seperate container... but if you bought the fish from the shop... just some point of advice for next time before you buy a fish watch it for atleast five minutes before hand to see if it has anything wrong with it.. such as red gills...

no scraping, in fact he seems just the same as his other two cousins. Pretty active and shoaling nicely. I will look up gill flukes on fishdoc.com

thanks

Bright red gills is known to be apparent with ammonia poisoning. What are your water params?
