the tank had a bout of ich about 2 weeks ago , all seemed ok now most of the tetras have a white edge to their fins[neons, beacon and black phantom tetras]some its only just noticable, but one of the neons had died :( .the water test .ammonia o nitrite o nitrate low.do water changes weekly,so would hope that it wasnt the water quality.used protozin at half strength for the ich because of the neons and corys.was sure i had eliminated it. is this white edge finrot or the start of fungus?or could it be something else ?all the fish in the tank seem to be active and eating ok at the moment.i have read several of the links on diseases and am unsure about this.. pebbles

Hiya pebbles - yes it could be finrot. Are the fins actually disappearing or going ragged or are they just white? Have you had a look at this webpage on common fish diseases?

From what I've read around here it seems that Melafix is the best all-round tonic for fin rot, hope this helps!

Hey, Pebbles. It could be that the Ich irritated the fins and left them (for lack of a better word) raw. Kinda like an abrasion. I would just watch them closely. It should heal on its own if you have followed treatment for Ich.

If you feel the need, Melafix would help the healing process and usually doesn't stress your other fish. Just be sure to follow instructions and do a water change at the end of treatment. I believe 7 days. Also, if you have charcoal/carbon, remove it for the duration of the treatment.
