Having a look at him today and I do not feel safe putting him back in with the others. There is still a very tiny hole and I think if I put him back in the other fish would tear him apart again. I'm not gonna put him back in until I'm certain he can survive and thrive in the shoal.

I've noticed that his spine seems to have become curved and he is swimming a little awkwardly. Could the skin have stretched too much when he was healing?

Okay guys I released him this morning and this afternoon he's doing swimmingly ( ) . He's hanging out with his mates. The whole is gone but there's a big scar on his side. I'm very happy with his recovery and hopefully he can live out the rest of his life in peace now. :)

It looks like there's a tear in him in the picture but I confirm he is fully whole once more. :)

Congrats on getting him back into shape. :) Hopefully that scar will heal.

So for me, this thread was like a season pass for a show I did not realize I had on the DVR. Rather than watch each episode and wait for the next to see if the little guy survived, I got to binge straight through and see the success story! I thought that fish had no chance when I saw the first picture. Good job isolating him and nursing back to health.

so pleased he's back with his buddies. Fingers crossed he does well now :)

I'm glad he pulled through, what a cute little fish :)

Thanks for all your helpful comments and encouragements.
I just wish I knew what he hit himself on so I could destroy it vengefully. :p

Our little hero passed on last night. No visible marks on his body. Looked fine yesterday. :(
