I had my db take a sample of our tank water to Petco. My nitrite readings had been at .25 for over 2 weeks with water changes at least every other day. I've been fighting nitrite levels in this tank for a long time. The store readings came out to be 4. It was done by 2 different employees. What's up with that. I have amaster test kit with 6 different tests. It wasn't cheap. I don't remember the brand.

manda :/

So you have either 0,25mg/l or 4mg/l? Was the bigger number N2-N value or was it NO2- too?

NO2- should be 0mg/l. Don't feed your fishes for couple days. Change water atleast 1/3 IF and only if your tap waters nitrite level is better.

It cannot be 4mg/l, because then your fishes probably would float upsidedown in top of your tank.
