I am currently treating my fish with myaxzin... I had a cloudy water problem that has stabilized after using antibiotics.  My water reading for ammonia was fine after the cloudiness... then I started on myaxzin... happened to get a new test kit for ammonia and retested and the ammonia was back.  Have done my water change yesterday evening (I am doing them daily in the evenings now) but didn't add the myaxzin as I planned to make that a thing I do in the mornings... I have tested my water this morning before adding the myaxzin and the stats are back to normal again.

SO... question is.... does the myaxzin give a false ammonia reading on the API tests?

Entirely possible that myaxzin could make your test kit give false readings, like Prime for example.

What is the ammonia readings you're getting btw?

After the cloudiness cleared (it cleared when I took the sludge from my other tank and squeezed my betta's filter sponge in it to try and gather new bacteria)... I tested several hours after and the water had gone from 0.25 to 0, the next day it was 0 then later that day 1!!  Then 0 this morning before myaxzin.

What's the ammonia readings AFTER myaxzin dosing?

Forgot to add, are you getting any nitrite readings as well or just ammonia?

I've only been testing the ammonia.  I will run the test again right now and answer your question.

Right... it is colored between 0.25 and 0.5 right now... and I added myaxzin a couple hours ago.

Does appear that either myaxzin does increase ammonia or gives false readings on your API test. Inclined more towards false readings personally but not 100% though.

More importantly, keep an eye on your stocking, they're the ones that will tell you if there is indeed ammonia in the tank water.

You know the routine :/

This is in my betta tank, so 1 betta and 1 horned nerrite, 10 gallons.

I am really concerned if that is playing up now too as I am trying to heal my betta of a serious fin rot issue... currently waiting on last hope meds to arrive for a new course of treatment before he loses his entire fin... so bad water quality is the worst thing right now if that is it.  (Also currently put a spare sponge in my other tank to gather bacteria to later add to my betta's filter in case the meds coming damages my bacteria colony).

Ah, now I see your dilemma.

Honestly, I think only a few members on here would know or at least be able to help more than I can, and would hopefully be online soon and help with more advice.

Fingers crossed all will work out.

Yeah, I'm keeping him on myaxzin in hopes of keeping his fin rot at the point it is at until the new meds arrive (Wilder found something new for me to try that I could actually order in the UK).
