I'm looking into purchasing a Tenecor 70 gallon pentagon tank with Simplicity plus filter (built in). We also want to get their stand and canopy in Unitex texture (probably the Mardi Gras finish).

Has anyone had one of these tanks? Would you recommend one? How do the stands look in person? They look great on the internet, but no one near us carries one (only the cheap particle board or poorly finished oak products around here).

Before investing $1500 or more, I'd like to see what experience others have had.

Would you recommend additional filtration? This Simplicity appears to be a LARGE Fluval type filter, but I often like to go with UGF as an additional aid. Perhaps someone would like to give their thoughts-pro or con.

i have the 170 bow with the black unitex stand/canopy. I definately am pleased with tenecor, although i did not opt for their simplicity filtration system, and am using my own filters etc.

If you got the simplicity, i would only add to it if your tank was really overstocked.

Thanks. I haven't been able to see the stands in person, and I was worried that they might look cheap (like the fake marble tables in cheaper restaurants).

I suppose that you have the Mardi Gras (I believe that Tenecor calls their black something like that).

Just to add soemthing along these lines. Every tank that I have read about that comes with a filter built in seems to be lacking. Almost every post I have read reffering to tanks like these the people strip them out and get a good filter. I guess you could use it to keep the water polished but get a bigger filter for your biological

I would stay away from the UGF as it requires an annual breakdown of the tank for cleaning. if you want additional filtration I'd do as les said and add an additional filter and use the built in for polishing the water
