Hi all,

I just bought a betta on eBay and he should be here by next Wednesday. The problem is that my 10 gal is still cycling. I only have 2 heaters and both are in use. Do you think I can keep him in my 5 gal with two ADFs till his tank is cycled?

The 5 gal is perfect for my shy ADFs (that are slightly smaller than a quarter/euro) each, but I'm worried their is too much stuff in there for the betta to swim comfortably.

Current contents:
2 ADFs, 3 medium sizes silk plants, a medium sized castle decoration, a ceramic betta log, an HOB filter, a heater, a thermometer, a small teracota dish, a moss ball, and some java moss.

Do you think any of those things could hurt the betta? Should I remove the castle to have more space? (The ADFs spend a lot of their time in there).

Can you take some of your filter media from your other tanks to speed up the cycle and then buy a heater?

My 5 gal isn't cycled - I plan to do the reverse- once my 10 gal is cycled, take some media from there for the 5 gal :p

As for a heater, I have 2 heaters and I will end up with 2 tanks - I don't want to spend more on a third heater that won't be used after 1 month

 okay.

IMO, it is always worth having another heater in the cupboard, in case yours suddenly blows.
Its up to you though :)

If you can provide a little bit more space in your 5G then I think your Betta would be fine with the ADFs.
