I live in a warm country and the water inside my tank measure at about 30-32 C (86-90 F)... Can my tropical fish survive in this temperature? I don't think there's anything I can do about it.
What can I do?

That's too hot! In my opinion anyway.... As to bring the temp down.......ummmm I'll get back to you!

EDIT: Where do you live? Do you not have air-con? I couldn't even live in that temperature!!

you can get water coolers for the tank.Im sure ive head about them in the coldwater section.Your boiling your fish!

My apartment has been at 85-90 for much of the summer.

Yes, unless you're keep a specific few fish that like temps in the 84+ range, that's too hot. I've tried just about everything except the $500 chiller that I can't afford right now.

The best thing I've found is a small "clip-on" fan blowing over the surface of the water. Keeps it around 80-82, which is a much safer level. You have to top up the water more often due to evaporation, but that's it. Cheap, effective.

Ice packs and whatnot require a lot of work on your part and frankly, don't help as much as you might hope.

Good luck!

What I don't get it is, why would the fish suffer so much with 85-90 F water during the summer?
Obviously, tropical fish found in the Amazon river and Africa swim in much hotter water during summer times.
So I would assume it is only natural that they adjust to a slightly higher temperature for a couple of months a year, what's the big deal?

it depends on the species of fish you are keeping :) discus for example need temp that is a bit on the warmer side :p cardinals i think can take the heat too :) jsut ask around the forum specific section of the fish you are taking care of it it can take the temp

right now im working on a diy chiller project in the DIY section, pass by it if you are interested :)

btw the fan does work well! blowing a fan over the surface reduces the temp nicely ;)
