been watching the temperature on my tank climb a little over the past two days, turned the heater off yesterday as its very hot in our flat/apartment at the moment. This heat is not right, we would normally be putting the central heating on around about now in the UK. Im not moaning as its nice to see the sun at least once a year.

anyone else had to turn there aquarium heater off.

Mine is turned right down, not that I think it would come on seeing as it's reading 27.5 on the tank thermometer and 29 on the one in my bedroom.

Don't worry, I hear rain is on the way Sunday, back to normal!

Mine temps stayed fine over these past few days of sun.
But the room the fish tank's in, is at the back of the house, so theres hardly any sun round there, so it keeps the room cooler.
Yep, its gonna get cooler from tomorrow.

turning the heater off make no sence it wont cool the tank down nor will heat up past its setting, the problem is water holds heat very well and the room temp is above 26c today

I tend to lift the flaps on the lid if i feel the need to do so.

Make sure you don't forget to turn the heater back on otherwise you will wake up to dead fish!

I turn mine down because it's a bit temperamental. Runs a lot warmer than whatever setting it's on. The lights heat the tank up enough this time of year, the heater is set to bare minimum as back up really.

I have a heater like that...

My tank hit 33c last night, normally sits around 25c. Doesn't help the room is small and jam packed with PCs that're constantly running mind.

That would start to concern me IMO nearly 10c up is alot, 5c is pretty norm in this weather

It got me doing a small cold water change at about 2am half drunk, managed to get it down to 28c where it's been since.
We're back to english weather now so hopefully it'll all go back to normal, not sure what i'd do if we had proper summers mind lol.

mine have gone from 24/5 to 30+ only 1 loss so far thankfully, am sat with all windows open, lids open, freezer rammed with bottles of ice being swapped over ever few hours and can't get it down

im glad im not the only one, i thought my brand new heater was wonky untill i realized the water was staying warm even after i turned off the heater. my little shrimp tank has been at 26 without a heater now for 2 days.
