Tiger barb
Ruby barb
Chery barb
Clown loach
Zebra danio
Marbled hatchet fish
Giant danio
Giant Gourmi
Corys i don't know what corries to get yet i am thinking i thinking varites of them
Kribs
Angel fish
Discus
Pearl Gourmi
Moonlight gourmi
Ram
Flag Cichlid

This wll be for a 55 gal or 60 gal. I am not gonna put all them in one tank that would be over stocking. I don't know cichlids so please tell me if these fish will all go together, with my barbs and charicins and any chyniprid.

Any suggestions for any other fish i should put in the tank. I am getting this tank ready by what i am gonna get so i don't get other stuff. I go crazy when i go to a fish shop i like to get alot of things so i am getting it organised so i know what to get and not get extra stuff.

Thanks

in my opinion i dont think that u should get ne cichlids since they are aggressive and can kill ur other fish that are not as agressive as they are

If you really want a cichlid, I recommend getting a Jade eyed cichlid, also known as Blue eyed cichlid. (Archocentrus Spilurus) It's actually a very good community fish, and is only territorial when spawning. Males are 4 1/2 inches and more colorful, females are 3 inches.
If you get Discus, really keep track of the water conditions.

Hope you get a nice tank,
Valerie :)

my 2 cents

Tiger barb-w/these you'll be limited as to what you can keep w/them-VERY NIPPY-

Ruby barb-

Chery barb-

Clown loach-will eventually outgrow your tank but that takes a long time

Zebra danio-no comment

Marbled hatchet fish-hope you have a tight lid-very fun fish to have

Giant danio-great active fish

Giant Gourmi-the name says it all

Corys i don't know what corries to get yet i am thinking i thinking varites of them

Kribs-very nice choice and they stay small-3 or 4"s

Angel fish-will get killed by the barbs

Discus-should be in species only tank-imo these are for experts

Pearl Gourmi-i love these good choice

Moonlight gourmi-not sure but i think they get huge

Ram-good choice

Flag Cichlid-these grow to about 8"s i believe,so not a good choice for a 55g i'd put them in the 60g.

Gonna stick my oar in as well, the gouramis are also a no no with tiger barbs (waits for a influx of "no my tigers are great dont hurt anything"'s) the tigers will make short work of the gouramis feelers.

And can i ask what on earth made you think of Giant gouramis? They grow huge and are very aggressive, not a community fish thats for sure.

here's what i'd pick from your list if this were my tank

1st-w/tiger barbs or any barbs they'r all fin nippers
clown laoch-be ready to upgrade in a few yrs
G.danios
cories
and my cichlid pick would be the kribs

w/out barbs proly better imo-60g for this

angel fish
festivum
clown laoch
hatchet fish
Z.danios

55g
clown laoch
hatchet fish
Z.danios
rams
kribs

Alright I don't know a ton about different fish, but what I do know, is that tiger barbs are schooling fish and yes, they can be aggressive and annoy other fish, but if you keep them in a school of 6 or more, you should be ok. Keeping one barb is not a good idea due to not only the other fish, but also the lone tiger! Schooling fish like to be with others of their kind, and feel unprotected if they're by themselves. If they're in a school, the focus their attention on each other and the pecking order, so usually mostly leave other fish in your tank alone. So I would suggest if you're going to get tiger barbs, get at least 6. They're great fish in my opinion - a lot of fun to watch - just make sure you keep them in a group :).

I was told that giant gourmis were nice and didn't get that big as people think they get. But i belive you.

This is what i am gonna do know tell me if it's ok.

For the 55 gal that i am gonna get.

Marbe hatchet fish
Ram
Krib
Zebra danio
Cories
Pleco
Dwarf Gourami
Ginat danio
Emper Tetra
Pearl Gourami
Moon light gouromi
Bengal Danio
Honey Gourami
Lake tebra rainbow fish

Would these guys go with them

Glow light
Rummy
Harquin
Fire rasbora
Blood fin
Head and tail light
Bleeding heart
Congo tetra

I am not gonna get them at one time over the years i will.

Are there any other fish i could put with them. and the fish i put on the list will they go together ?

id pick all little fish that way u could fit a lot in!!! :hyper:

Tropicalfish-your current list sounds good to me,i'd keep an eye on the gouramis though as they can get annoyed by their own kind ime.

julie-lol we knew someone would come by and dis-agree(and thats fine)this is your experience w/tiger barbs but you have to take all possible tankmates(angel fish) into consideration when giving any advice dealing w/known fin nippers.

Mostanks - I agree with you, because you do have to be careful when putting tiger barbs in a community tank, especially with fish that have long fins. I was just recommending creating a school if she really wanted them, since that usually helps with the aggression problem. Also - Tropicalfishfn - some of the other fish you have one your list are schooling fish, and I really think you should keep them in a school in order to have them happy. Ex: Danios (I used to have only one and it was so depressed, but now that I have 6, they are one big happy family!)

I do agree with the post saying that Tigerbarbs can be kept succesfully with other fishes. Just put them into a group of 6 or more. im keeping 10 tiger barbs with 20 zebra danios, a syno cat fish, and a red tailed black shark. its been succesful i could say, as there are no fin nipping incident as of yet(esp on the cat fish). The tiger barbs just chase around each other and thats what they do most of the time(and some courting dances).

Im planning to get some ruby barbs, and prolly fishes that are good tank mates with babrbs(any suggestions?) I have a 75 gallon tank and i think i can accomodate more fish.

The zebra danios and the emporer tetras should be kept in shoals of a minimum of 5, as should the tetras and harlequins you mentioned in your second list.
