So I have a billion and one questions about Fish tanks. For now I'll try not to be overwhelming to myself and others. So here are my main questions

1. How big ( in gal) can tanks get.
2. How big /how many until fish tank could cause harm to the buildings structure
3. What's the cost in Can dollars for
40 gal, 80 gal, 180 gal tank (just tanks nothing included).

Note: been looking for price ranges in stores but they are guessing mainly because they are all out of stock of bigger tanks.

1) There is no limit on tank size, just look at public aquariums. If you have the money, there is someone who can build you a huge tank that can hold millions of litres (250,000+ gallons). However, for the average home, most big aquariums are around 150 gallons (6ft long x 2ft wide x 2ft high), or 100 gallons (4ft long x 2ft wide x 2ft high).

2) What is the house made of?
If the house is made of brick and has a solid concrete floor, you can put a heap of tanks on it. However, if the house is old and has wooden floors, then stay with a couple of small 10-20 gallon tanks.

3) Check Ebay for second hand tanks and see what they go for. Then ask the shops how much they sell tanks for. The shops should be able to give you a definite price.

I'm going have to disagree with you. Even with concrete floors of u have 250,000+ gal stop and think how heavy that is for a moment. Water weighs alot! Though I guess with concrete floors for the avg enthusit would hold without a worry. As far as phoning stores as written above I have. But alot of stores can't even come up with logical price last one I called said they had a 20 gal so they just doubled the price. When I asked her about fish she was clueless so idk how much she even knew. For example she said fish don't need anything on the bottom as they do fine just with water in a tank. Somehow I think that's fine for selling purposes but not for long term care ... I want real answers...

I went on Amazon but no results where coming up other then 10 to 20 gal tanks.

I wouldn’t suggest anything over 75 gallons for wood frame floors and even then I would definitely keep it near a load bearing wall. Poured concrete slab foundation I would personally be comfortably to couple hundred gallons. But at the expense I would rather have a custom built in something that is a real show piece.
