Tanks Mbuna Tank Diary (pics & Video)

:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol: you could add some gold jewelery to the tank, bling up the fish a little. You have to look the part after all

I HAVE to see a pic of that! Richest fish in all the world! :lol:

I might even change my stock list to go with the theme.

4 * Labidochromis ludacris (kakusa) 1M 3F
3 * Aulonocara eminemdi 1M 2F
3 * Tang wu-afra 1M 2F

It would make for one hell of an xzibit!!!

I crack myself up!

Ill take your word for it, no idea that those look like! and neither does google!

Maybe I was trying too hard to be funny!
If you look carefully there is a rap artist in each of the names. I.e these fish dont exist
Sorry

Oh right I see now!! Would have worked if I had known, oh well better luck next time :) we're getting a little off the topic now anyway!

I’m still waiting and I will be waiting for another week or two for the tank to cycle. So today I thought I’d do a bit of pimp my tank. I got this idea in the DIY section of this forum the persons name who posted the link is smithrc “so full credit to him and thanks very much for your great idea.

I think it looks good but I’m most impressed with the price. The whole lighting system cost me under 15 euro. Thats a bargin in any country.

wow that moon light looks really good, it will look even better with the moonlight shining on the beautiful fish :D

Like it matey, that's a complete bargain for lighting too!

Will look cool once the fish are in.

Ammonia = 0

Nitrites = 0

Nitrates = fluxuates with water changes.

ph = 8.0 - 8.5

One expensieve trip to the fish shop tomorrow. Bring the credit card and the best part of it is that fish are three for the price of two on thursdays.

I want to be coming home with two species at least.

I'd like to put in

4 * Labidochromis caeruleus (kakusa) 1M 3F
3 * Cynotilapia afra (cobue) 1M 2F

then I am going to add

3* Pseudotropheus sp "elongatus yellowtail" 1M 2F

I was toying with the idea of adding 3 * Aulonocara maylandi 1M 2F instead of the elongatus yellowtails but because these are peacoks, I have been told that they will not enjoy the tank as much as mbuna. Thus I am going to go with all mbuna.

I am going fish shopping tomorrow so If anyone has any opinion on my stocking list now is the time to let me know, please.

Also do you think it would be possible to add all my fish at the same time, Its total of ten fish. I'd really like to get them all at the same time so they can establish territories at the same time.

thanks for the input so far.

10 fish at once is probably a bit too much. 2-4 would be a good start so as not to overload your bio filter. Tank looks amazing though mate, it would be a shame to ruin it with sick and dying fish as a result of being over eager.

I could be wrong though, I haven't stocked a large tank like that before, but I'd prefer to err on the side of caution.

Good luck with everything and keep the pics of the new fish rolling in.

Very nice, it looks great!
What is that blue light? and how do you put it on the tank?

Looking good matey :) I would also recommend that you dont put all 10 fish in, in one go, you dont want to risk it, apart from the cost if they do die, no one likes to see ill fish floating around their tanks (says he looking at the whitespot problem in him own :(). Add 4 and watch the NO3 and NH4, if you dont see any increase in a day or two, you're probably ok to add a few more. I guess this also depends how much you've cycled the filter, guess the more ammonia you've been using the more it will be able to cope with a high bioload. Cant help further than that, been ages since I've cycled a tank.

Enjoy the shopping trip!

Sam
