Okay, I have two main tanks, 1 10 gallon and 1 29 gallon. In the 10 gallon I have two platys, both female, and 3 corys. I guess that tank is pretty full so skip that. My 29 gallon has 1 african butterfly fish, 6 fruit tetras, and 1 pleco. Now the pleco Ive had since it was about 4 cm big, and now its about 4 inches big. maybe 4 1/2. Anyways, I feel like inorder for him to be happy and keep growing he should go to a better home with a bigger tank, am I right? Also, I was wondering if theres anythign else I could put in this tank because its pretty empty, that would get along with my african butterfly fish, and wouldn't eat my tetras. I had two albino cichilds for about a year buuuut one got stuck in a decoration i have in my tank (I found this out because pieces of fish were suddenly floating around my tank after not seeing him for a while :( ) and the other died recently (dont know why, probably sad from missing her boy :( ) Anyyyyways, any help would be appreciated. Also, my 10 gallon has sand, not gravel, and that was done one day last year when I had a llloooot of patience. I was thinking about making my 29 gallon sand but I dont know. Any comments at all pleeeease

Hey, thats what I have except...well, except I have 2 cories.
if I were you, I think you could ass anothe r female platy, and a male platie. Then You've hit stock limit.

Yes

it depends what kind of pleco though... but any fish would be happier in a bigger tank

Do you have a pic from the pleco? He will probably grow at least twice that size, so tank upgrading would be necessary.

Yes they are, but I saved them from walmart =( I just had to, and including the pleco, they are the fish that i've had for the longest time. Ill try to get a picture of the pleco but my camera isnt that good when it comes to fish tanks. Hes the common one though, that you see at every lfs, I rescued him from walmart too.

By buying fish to "save" them then you are really just supporting it. Walmart sees the profit and continues selling dyed fish.

what's done is done but sometimes it breaks your heart to see a fish or whatever so you try to "save" it even though it supports them. i'm sure we've all done it in one form or another so let's not harass her (she already knows it wasn't right) about it and answer her questions instead.

ok, since you have a common pleco you will eventually need to find a bigger home for him because he will grow to be up to or over a foot in length. this could be a good thing though, since it would be an excuse for a bigger tank :D if you like cories, perhaps you could get a small school for your 29 gallon- i don't know a lot about african butterfly fish to tell you what else would be suitable

Well anyways, the only way I could get a bigger tank is if I "move out of this house" so says my mom. And inorder to get cories for the 29 gallon tank would I have to make it sand instead of gravel. I wouldnt want the cories getting ripped up, thats why I made the 10 gallon sand.
Also for the 10 gallon I was wondering instead of more platys could I get a few neon tetras or danios?

not danios.....they need a large tank as they are very active fish and need lots of room. maybe a small school of neons for the 10 gal but that would be it. as for the 29 gal i would rehome the plec or get a bigger tank before adding any more fish to it.

no zebra danios need a lot of swimming room. ten gallon is considered the minimum size but because they swim around so much and so fast a larger tank is recommended for them. you could get some neons, but they should be in a school.
