I'd thought of 3 male endlers, think this would be ok? Any other suitable ideas?

Thanks :)

Honestly, you can probably get away with 4-6 in a 28L.

Especially with live plants. I'd only ever be concerned with swimming room. Stocking wise its not a problem.

I don't like to see tanks 'too busy' if you know what I mean though, which was why I suggested 3. Just wondering, do endlers prefer being in larger groups (eg 6+) like tetras etc? I often see people with just a few, but I did wonder if they needed more.

Endlers will do fine in small numbers. I started my present breeding colony of them with just 2 pairs. Today it looks like this at feeding time.

This guy shares their 45 gallon tank.

That's a lot of endlers in there! Do you just tend to let them keep breeding?

They breed completely out of control. One of the betta's basic jobs is to control endler populations but he is a total failure in that role.
The endlers are self limiting really. Once their numbers reach grossly overcrowded conditions, far fewer fry survive to become adults.

That is awesome!

Instead of a betta you could pick a slightly bigger fish that WILL eat the fry. Maybe a gourami?

I am stuck on a betta I'm afraid ;)

I think I might just go with a few male endlers :)

Went to a store today where there were some endlers, but at £2.50 each I thought they were a bit too pricey. At the moment it looks like it's just going to be a betta with the shrimp/snails.

+1 my rainbow gourami normally only leaves 2out of 25+ guppy and platy fry a month, natural crowd control
