Ow well my Tank is back up after being ripped apart and scrubbed water tests

Gh 4
Kh 3
Ph 7
Ammonia 0.25 (so is tap water)
Nitrite 0
Nitrate 0

Bristlenose are now in looking happy. Any ideas on new stocking for my 110L tank guys

I wish angels will be to big for this tank. Im looking ot upgrade my tank in the next 3 months tho.

What dimensions is this 110l?

On the presumption (which could be wrong) that it is about 3-foot long, is there any one fish species you really fancy keeping that stays under ~8cm, which does not need hard alkaline water (African Rift Valley, Central American etc*) or acidic black water to thrive? Needs to be something not too hyperactive too. ;)

You have low-medium hardness neutral water, I can only dream of your choices down here in Southampton!

* You could chose to do a setup around something that needs hard alkaline water, using something like crushed coral in your filter, but this makes things more complicated.

Close guess.

length 31 inch
Height 18 inch
Width 13 inch

I have no idea on what i want im used to having the usuall neons, guppies and stuff. It has to be something compatible with bristle nose.

if you have 0.25ppm ammonia at present, your filter should process it and drop it to 0 within a few hours if its working correctly. I would suggest testing it later tonight around 10pm or early morning. If that ammonia isnt shifting, dont go getting any fish :)

Its very hard to suggest a stocking plan to a complete stranger, it really is down to personal preferences. Nearly everything will live alongside a BN.

Also i prefer the planted tank look so preferably something that likes plants.

Im sure its my test kit as it always looks like 0.25 i have never been able to get it to 0 even my tap water shows 0.25 It was showing that for months and i never had a problem. Until yesterday of course.

Ill take a water sample to my LFS. see what they show.

Personally, I would divide that up and add in a few male bettas, but that's just me!

What sort of fish were you thinking of having in there?

thats the thing fighter im not to sure i know im going to get 6 peppered corys.

Alternatively just buy some pure ammonia and dose it up to 4ppm and watch it drop down over a 12 hour period. If its processing it to your 0.25 reading, it probably really is 0ppm.

Its far easier to see the colour difference between 4ppm and 0ppm and to see it actually working than it is 0.25ppm and 0.

At least this way you know your filter is 100% cycled (obviously checking for nitrite also to ensure its processing nitrite)

Okays. Then you can start to think of fish that would go with the cories, like mid and top level dwellers? I can't really help you there I'm afraid!

Maybe you could pick a center piece fish like a cichlid, betta or gourami and then plan the rest of your stocking around that? :good:

It does show up ammonia from when i first cycled but it only went down to 0.25 not 0. Where can i get pure ammonia will it harm my fish??

homebase/boots/B&Q, its used for cleaning.

Yes of course it will harm fish, but no reason why you cant take your lone fish out and plonk him in a bucket for 12 hours. Its not recommended that you poison them with pure ammonia. ;)

What test kit is it, the API freshwater jobby?

PS its very unlikely you have ammonia in the tap water in the UK, if you do, phone up your water provider, unless you like drinking other peoples wee ;) Usually its caused by broken pipes.

It sounds like they are your "must have fish." So now you plan around Peppered Corydoras and I reckon you could probably up there number to 8-10 in your 110l. :)

Peppered are one of the most cool water liking corydoras, being happy at as low as 16C. Personally, I would look for tankmates that enjoy a temp range of 16-20C.

My tank temp was always 27c is that ok they liked it before. i think they did anyway.
