I have a 170l (37uk/45us gallons, 48" x 18" x 12")

Currently have 10 platties, 3 clown loach, 4 angels.

We are looking at getting 2 pearl Gouramis (good in pairs?) & a small plec (6" or so when fully grown)

Also, good to keep it at 3 clown loaches or would adding another 2 be good for the group?

Thats all we would be getting full stop (unless babbies arrive)

i think u could definately fit more fish in there. i'm not an expert at that sort of stuff but i reckon there would be room for more.
yes get some pearls coz they are heaps cool and definately get a plec coz they are cool too! :D
maybe more clowns would be good but remember they can get huge

Cheers for your reply.

I wanna wait a few months before i get the plec as the local fish shop said they have known a few cases of them going into tanks newer than 4 months old, doing fine for a month or so then dieing (looking healthy still aswell) Im not too sure on that advise, but at least they seemed to be honest and thinking of the fish.

I read that pearls were one of the gentle, soscial Gouramis (dont want bullies in my tank!)

my plec is still alive and i have had him when my tank was still fairly new :dunno:
and yeah i think pearls are meant to be gentle. i really want some but my tank is too small :(

my plec went in my 15gal after a few weeks and have moved into the 50gal when that was new too... he's fine

I wouldn't advise any more clowns with that size of floor.

I don't see what would be wrong with adding a plec either to be honest. Mine were added when my tank was new and they are hunky dory and growing. What kind of plec are you after?

:fish: ~Dana~ :fish:

Cheers for that, im kinda thinking 2 more loaches will be too much, but i read such conflicting reports on the net about it!

Cant remember the name, think it had L51 at the end though, 5-6" Black one with white dots all over it.

We have two pearl gouramis and one tends to pick on the other a bit and will try to push around other fish (especially when feeding). Its not bad but is annoying as the rest of the tank live in such harmony............

hey i added two clown plecos to my 45 gallon when they were babies and the tank was cycling and they are doing wonderfully and far as the pleco you mentioned its hard to say without a picture but it sounds like a toothnose. good luck
Pete :p

ummm....
you have 68" of fish in a 45 gallon tank....
i wouldn't advise you to get anymore
a small plect (like a rubber lipped pleco) maybe
but nothing else
you don't want to overload your tank
i would keep it at 3 clown loaches,
and i would not put pearl gourami in there, as they get 4" each and are best in groups, so if you added a pair AND your pleco, it would be 81" of fish in a 45 gallon :/

I only know the basics, like in a 2 gallon tank, keep about 1 fair size fish and you can have 9 small ones, at MAX, for my 15 gallon tank you can keep a community of 15 fish, about 5 fair sized and 10 small... which is roughly what i have

i must say i am a bit jealous of your tank just how it is :*)

That sounds like prety hefty stock levels to me :dunno: infact those tanks sound way over stocked :/
