Hi, I used this site a while back as a beginner but havent used it for a while as all my questions were pretty much answered perfectly. The thing is I have a mature jewel rekord 70 (70 litres) and so far i have stocked 2 kribensis and 3 tiger barbs. They are all pretty happy together and i rarely have problems. I wonder if i could possibly add anything else to this tank as at the mo it seems pretty bare when the fish are hidden in caves and behind rocks. The tank stats are always pretty perfect aswell. I would probaly not add these fish for a while as i want my fish to mature abit more and grow larger (still pretty small at the moment). Could i add anything to make my fish put on weight and grow quicker? Sorry for the silly questions im still new to the hobby really lol. Thanks :)

If it were me I would add 3 more tiger barbs. Either Green, Albino or Normal.

And no I don't think there is anything to make them grow faster. They will grow at whatever rate they grow.

Hi protein foods can help them grow faster so like live foods blood worm - I have a bloodworm flake that is pretty high protein content and I have seen a pretty good growth rate over the past 3 or 4 months

tiger barbs get to a fair size - I've seen them at 3" and they are active fish, 70l is simply not enough space for them, especially not with the kribs if they turn out to be a pair.

To be honest I'd be wary about keeping anything else in 70l with a pair of kribs. Maybe some small but fast top dwellers or a small plec.

Agreed at 3" but I figured unless it was a tall tank then it should be at least 24" long...seemed reasonable to me. I also figured as a shoal that they'd hold there own against kribs...but there we are.

Fair enough. :)

I do definitely agree that there are much better tankmates for kribs than tiger barbs. If it were me I would also be thinking about some active top dwellers. But that would only be if the tiger barbs were re-homed...

id feel exactly the same, i had a 3ft set up with tiger an green barbs... there just didnt seem enough room for thm to zoom round at high speed.... also, the more you get, the more active they get.

*misses barb tank*

If i rehomed the tiger barbs what tankmates would you recomend instead? Thanks for all the advice so far, its so much easier than reading everything up :good:.

70L?!!! So sorry, i thought it said 170L!

P.S I was rushing a bit.

haha good job i didnt run off and buy them then  . thanks anyways :good:

So i guess i cant add more fish stock with the tiger barbs still there, how about if i emoved them and just had the 2 kribs in a 70l tank? any better options other than tiger barbs? Thanks for the advice :good:
