Well I decided that I wanted a new tank so I will be getting one made by ND Aquatics but before it arrives I need to build a new stand. The new tank is 48x22x18" with an Optiwhite front pane :D

I've chosen to use 18mm structural spruce:

Once finished I will stain the stand proberly in a ash/black shade but still allowing the detail in the wood to show through.

I decided that I wanted to incorporate a smaller tank into the stand but also have space for my filter, FE Co2 and all the other bits we need as fish keepers and this is the rough sketch of the design I came up with.

The filter and fire extinguisher will sit in the larger open end (will be putting a door on) and the 2ft tank will sit on the top shelf while the drawers house various bits and bats. The bottom shelf will be for what ever the Missus she's fit.

All being well I will be going to get the timber tomorow and get cracking with this.

Do like watching diy journals. give the rest us of us ideas on future plans, this design looks very good. keep us updated. :good:

It had to take abit of a back seat as my car needed tax and a few other things to get her running right so this is on hold for a couple of weeks
