Tank Size For Red-bellied Pirahnas

Pirahnas are illegal here in most states within the US, thogh wisconsin is not one of them. Most lfs by me carry them, but i strongly recommend against purchaseing them. Yhey do like to be in groups of their own species, and can get quite large. you are going to need a deep and wide tank to keep them comfortably, and a better than average filtration system. If u do want to go ahead and buy red bellies, i recommend makeing sure it is legal in your region, and that there is no kind of bill or petition going around to stop the selling of these fish (because it would suck to get the tank set up, and then have to get rid of the fish).

I cant say that I know anyone who has successfully kept a red bellie tank, they userally end up being sold singley as novelty fish to people who dont know what their getting into. Best of luck to ya

hmm.. ever been to www.piranha-fury.com there's lots of people who know what they're doing... i thought it was guppies that were novelty fish for inexperienced fishkeepers..

yes, well, there's advertising and then there's using available information to prove a point (which is that there's a healthy international community of specialized piranha-keepers out there)
