I've been planning for tank #3 lately, and have decided on a bowfront corner tank for the bedroom. I havn't purchased it, or anything for it, yet. I want to have a clear set plan in my head befor going forward.

I want to keep angels. I kept angels once many years ago. 4 of them in a 10 gallon. You can imagine how that went over...

I want to keep a group between 4 and 6. This is no "grow-out" tank, I want to be able to house them in there permanantly. And I have little to no interest in their spawning. The store I get my fish from has a beautiful variety of colors, too, so it would be a GORGEOUS tank. Perfect for my room.

I've been pondering something along the size of 54 or 55 gallons (the dimentions of the 54 are 38x27x22 and the dimentions of the 55 are 48x13x20 - and of course the 54 is a LOT more money, so I"m leaning on the 55). Would this be adequit housing for 4-6 angels?

I've noticed a lot of people have 46 - 55 gal community tanks with 2 or 3 angels living amongst the community. And the LFS (who I never take TOO seriously) says I'd need a 30 gal for 4 angels.

I'm a bit at a loss with so much different info flying around :dunno:

55g is ideal for 5-6 angels... and also you should remember that if you were to purchase for example 6 young angles, as they mature two of them might form a pair (there is 96% chance of a male and a female form 6 young angles - don't ask me for the probability formula now:)) . in such eventuality then you might need to move the pair in a tank of their own or move the rest of the angles (to avoid fighting)... just some thoughts.

Basically, you're going to need a tank that's at least 18" high for a full grown angel and 10 gallons per angel. Of course with smaller angels, you could squeeze a couple more in there, but if you're looking for a long term stocking plan, then I'd stick with those guidelines.

I don't know much about angels, but I've seen 54 gallon corners and they are beautiful.

hehe! i know!

I have this *thing* for aggressive plant-eating decoration-moving aquarium dwelling critters (the betta, the oscar, the mystery snail...), so the two tanks I have set up right now are rather... well plain. I've been just DIEING for a show tank, and my LFS has the most gorgeous variety of angels. Wild type, gold, koi, black, silver, albino... I was never really a fan of them until I saw a display tank they had with LOVELY silk plant decor, and caves with 4 FULL GROWN koi angels.

I couldn't help but picture how BEAUTIFUL it would be in a corner bowfront tank, maybe even with a sand bottom or fine gravel.... and every morning I'd wake up to the lovely tank, and every night fall asleep to the relaxing sound of water.

I won't have the money to pick up the tank for a while, then setting it up... it'll be ages. But I can't wait!
