Tank Shape

I want to mix a few species of Dwarf Cichlids.

Maybe through some illusion due to the shape, but I always feel fish are happier and have more space for territory in rectangular tanks rather than square. Is this the case or will they be happy with my square tank?

id say a longer tank would be beter than a cube , unless of course it was a big cube .

rectangular is generally better as individual fish who "do not get on" can further away from each other tan in the equivalent volume squarish tank.
