Hi, just about to set up a new tank for tropical fish, got the heater and filter sorted, now it time to think about plants gravel etc.

So what plants are good for the tank (Any in particular) What would you say is better, Gravel or Sand. Should i put some wood in the tank or maybe some rocks?

Let me Know what you think, the dimesions of the tank are as followed:

100cm x 45cm x 40cm

Cheers

coloured gravel i would go for, but i think ill go down the sand route!, where would i get the sand from though?

ive been to a few lfs today and they vary a lot in price 10kg =£10, 20kg =£10,40kg =£22. this is for the sand ,told you can you river sand or silica ,i no someone who uses play sand from argos as its cheaper but it needs to be mixed as it causes airpockets of toxins or something , maybe a more experience member will be able to tell you the pros and cons of each ,

yh i think ill go down the sand route if some one can advise me on what sand to get

Hi, if you get bogwood make sure you boil it for a good few days until the tannins come out (brown stuff) ;)

Paul.
