This past weekend, I re-did one of my cory tanks that was very basic. When I originally set it up, I was in a hurry, so I didnt spend much time on it. Here it is now:

I like the space that easy to maintain, but the center pice was too big. How about replace the rock with drif wood.

That is a 30 US gallon. In this tank are the Corydoras arcuatus, fowleri, Green and Orange laser C. Aeneus, semiaquilus, and simulatus.

I like the space that easy to maintain, but the center pice was too big. How about replace the rock with drif wood.

As long as you like it that's count. It is your fish tank, people likes different thing. I re-arrange my tank very so often.

What kind the rock that you are using? [It is looks rough surface]. I using the rock that I pick up along the creek or stone that has good shape a long the lake.

The big thing in the middle is a piece of plastic bogwood. The rocks around the sides are some rocks I found and cleaned to go in the tank. I have rocks in all my tanks and the cories like to rest behind them.

It look real rock to me they did a good job. So you don't have to worry will crack the glass.

The Box wood is great for Cory to hiding and sleep during luch hours.

Im not using live plants yet. I havent taken the time to research for live plants. The only thing that bothers me about using live plants with cories is that the plants take a lot of the oxygen out of the water and the cories require lots of oxygen. Inchworm taught me that

From what I understand that Plant release the Oxygen during the day and Co2 at night. The cory take the Oxygen at the water surface. Most the fish tank have air stone or some type of air movement. So have plants in the tank shouldn't be a problem of take away from the fish.

The deal with live plants is this: During the day they use CO2 and produce Oxygen. After lights out, they use Oxygen. If you inject CO2 to help your plants durning the day, you can't run an air bubbler too, because it'll drive the CO2 out of solution. However, you can run the bubbler at night when they plants don't need CO2. Just make sure the air goes off and CO2 comes back on slightly before the lights do and your problem would be solved (or go low tech and don't sweat running the bubbler all the time.)

I don't using CO2 injection in the tank, most of the plants I let it growing nature, but the a bubbler running all the time helping O2 circulation for the fish.

The plants in my tank are not Highly CO2 demand, and I understand CO2 injection is essential for plants growing. Most important is fish come first to keep them healthly and well.

CO2 is essential, but injecting it is not. Fish produce it when they breathe. If your plants aren't demanding, then you are AOK .

I got a power compact 6700k and 10000k on some of the tank and it on 8-10 hrs/day plenty of light for the plants to synthesis and CO2 should get from breakdown of the fish waste and release from fish itself.

Pleants did well and growning.

How important is it for me to have a cave of some sort for my cories? I got my 29 gallon and have 11 plastic plants in it, as well as two smallish pieces of plastic driftwood. I can't find an attractive hiding space, and was thinking of using flower pots, but I'm worried that my tank is going to get crowded.

Cory like to hiding during the day or using when they want to sleep, also some of the may don't like bright light all the time. Best thing to have something for them to shelter when they needs it.

I see some sort of cave a Petco it can be use for Reptiles or fish. It is call Kritterz Hollow come in two size small and large not very big and should fit on you tank fine.
