i will be buying a jewel reckord 96. If this tank is not sufficient i will be passing the neons back to the fish shop!

Could someone let me know if 20 uk gals is ok for 7 neons

cheers

I don't know how much 20 UK gallons is... but I'd say anything 10 US gallons or more is fine for 7 neons... provided you don't put other fish in there. Neons don't produce much waste... nor take up much swimming space.

Just my thoughts. Hopefully, someone else can confirm.

I currently have a 12 US gallon tank with 7 neons, 1 gourami, and 2 ottos.

Size wise it is very luxurious quartering for 7 Neons. What worries me more is that Neons are quite sensitive to nitrogen pollution, and are far from a good choice for a newly established tank. If you planned to keep guppies as well, I would cycle the tank, then add the guppies, and then a few weeks at least later, add the Neons.

Newly cycled tanks tend to be a little unstable and can throw the odd ammonia and nitrite spikes. Normally I'd advise waiting even longer, but the tank is fairly large for a small stock load so you'll probably get away with it.

LateralLine thanks for the post

These neons and guppy are in an established tank at the minute so what i am going todo is take a handful or so of the gravel and abit of filter media and run that in the new tank. I think this will spped up the cycling process.

In the 20 gallon can i have more fish as well as the guppy and the 7 neons, maybe another 2 guppies and 3 neons.

Yes, I would say 2-3 more of either would be fine.
