unfortunately i already have a few neon tetras and they are the fish that brought me back into the hobby as my first fish in 6 years but they appear to pretty healthy
(also a platy i need to return as i can not meet its requirements [did not know as much when i bought it])

I stay away from neons, they are overbred and oversold, even feature their own disease

Hm, never heard of them being inbred. I got a school a while ago, but 4 died off. Only have 2 left, but they are healthy as can be. A big bummer, because I loved Neons.

Overbred, inbred, whatever the case, they are just generally unhealthy fish, IME

I'd much rather false (green) neons or cardinals, both are much prettier, anyway

I do love Green Neons. LFS never has them in stock though.

It’s a shame that people have to ruin some of the favorite fish in the hobby, because they are money greedy.
