Tank on 2nd Floor,

I'm looking at getting a new 30 gal or 55 gal. This is going on the 2nd floor will it be too heavy?

I wouldnt think so. But to be safer, make sure its close to a wall, and on top of as many floor joists as possible to distribute the weight.

You can figure about 10 lbs/gal (imperial gals) so 30 gal = 300 lbs plus tank & decorations, 55 gal = 550 lbs plus tak & decorations. The more of your stand touching the floor the more the weight is distributed, so if your stand is on 4 legs be sure to put something larger under them to help distribute the weight ( a block of hardwood or steel say 6" x 6" x 1/4 "). Should be no problem at all!!!!

I had a 135 gallon tank in my living room which was over my basement. No trouble from it at all!!

Ok thanks, my mom has been using excuses to try stop me from getting a new tank. thanks
