Tank Mates

I wasn't aware that finrot was contagious :/

And by "I added something and it vanished" I think she was referring to her post about the substrate having vanished :) I could be wrong though!

Yes, I had to add that in there twice as it vanished the first time.

I wonder if I should take up rearing my fry in a separate tank again... maybe it worked better that way. I've only had females and fry together for about 2 months.

As for fin rot being contagious or not... not really sure how it works. But I bought two new males and added them to my male tank (stupidly) and one got immediate fin rot (or had it and I didn't know) and it moved quickly and I had to euthanize that one as it was pine coning in the end. Two of my home reared babies got it next one responded to treatment and one didn't and I ended up doing the extreme method (after how badly it went with the first one) and trimmed the diseased bit, everything has cleared perfectly in that tank. Then came the female issues in their tank.

It wasn't aimed at the fin rot :shifty: , more so this waxy layer over the fishes body she complained about, could be fungal or bacterial, just trying to suggest a possible source of infection where this may have come from :good:
