I recently got a 20 gallon long tank and was looking to a pair two electric yellow labs in it with some other kinds of malawi species. I was wondering what other fish would make good tank mates for them. I was especially wondering about socofolis (spelling??) and mel. johannis? Any advice would be greatly appreciated

hmm, with that amount of space i can only recomend 2-3 female electric yellows and 1 male e Yellow

if you can get guaranteed pairs/trios, then maybe yellow labs and rusty cichlids (lodotropheus sperengae) would fit in that tank, depends on the length of the tank and how many hiding places you have. add them all together to avoid any squabbles over territory.

You can do a trio of labs and

a trio of Iodotropheus Sprengerae
or
a trio of Pseudotropheus Saulosi
or
a single male peacock (not the jacob variety)

No Melanochromis variety (johanii) will work in a tank this size. While the Socolofi may work, the chances are it won't.
