Tank Mate Help!?

Ok, so I recently upgraded my 28l tank to a 90l tank. Still got a small number of fish at the moment: 8 neons, 2 albino corys, 4 algae eating shrimp ,a bristle nose and my female German blue ram.
When I bought her, she was the only one in the tank and I didn't know exactly what she was. Done research and thinking she needs some tank mates. But can't decide whether to buy a second female or buy a male? Only I hear males can be a bit aggressive? And I'm creating a peaceful community tank.
Also interested in getting some dwarf gouramis. How maany is best? Will they make good tank mates?

any help is much appreciated

I'd get a female. Until the weekend I had 2 females and there were no agression issues. I was wondering a similar thing myself, if my female will be ok on her own or if I should get another one?

As for DG's, get 1 male and 2 females to spread out his attentions a bit. You can get more females (if tank space allows) but only have one male.

Thanks how do you sex the dgs? Moat shops don't so ill have to figure it out myself

Males are colorful, means are mostly dulled out and silvery looking.
The GBR requires higher temperatures than your other fish appreciate, GBR need a temp minimum of 28c to thrive, also I would up the numbers of the corys.

My tank has always been around 25c had her about 4 months or more thought and seems healthy as anything, very colourful and active and eating well. Perhaps she was in a lower temp at the shop too?

Im not sure but ask anyone on here and they will tell you that they require this temperature to thrive, also whats your ph?

Unsure of my ph, only just changed the tank, so I'm getting my water tested at the shop during the week

Lol im not quite sure but I think your other fish prefer temp around the 24-25c range, I dont they will do well at higher temps as GBR do.
GBR are also very sensitive to water conditions and have been known to die for the stupidest of things.

Lol. Well I think I will put the temp up a little, and see how the water test goes. I'll just have to keep an eye on her. She seems much happier in the larger tank now though, I've used a lot plants as I believe the gbrs like it well planted

Yeah, my GBR died (I believe) from Ammonia poisoning she never recovered from. The Ammonia was only present in the tank for about 12 hours max (due to it being in my water supply and me not knowing)and she just went downhill and died a week later. I guess from organ faliure or something.

My tank's at 27. I'm not sure if it's ideal, I had to put it up a bit when I got my GBRs but I've never seen any change in the behaviour/health of the rest of my fish. Stupidly I bought the GBRs without knowing that they needed higher temps!

Try and find out your PH. If it's a bit high (over 7 really) then you can always try and lower it by adding bogwood. This is what I'm waiting for - money for my bigger tank so I can add all the lovely new wood I've bought. Seem to be waiting forever though!

Why more Corys? just out of interest. I do enjoy watching my two, very active little guys

Why more Corys? just out of interest. I do enjoy watching my two, very active little guys

Corys are shoaling fish and should be in groups, in the wild they school in 1000's.
It would be cruel to keep a schooling fish in groups 2 or 3, they would feel insecure and wont be happy.

I have a Platy, Sparkling Gouramis, Green Neons, Pygmy Corys and Ember Tetras. My tank is a bit overstocked right now, hence my extra keeness to get my new one.

Just upped my heater to about 27c. I also have neons and corys so im thinking theyll be fine at that temp *fingers crossed*
