For the gravel, you could go buy a couple of buckets and throw them in there. I have buckets of gravel in my garage ready to be used for whatever. You could plant it nicely, and have 2 schools of fish: Rasboras and Tetras. That would be sweet.

I'd go for some sand. I prefer sand to gravel. I think its more fishy friendly and more comfy to sit on for bottom dwellers.

How about you get some nice drift or bogwood? I love how wood looks in the tank and you can grow certain plants on them. But then you will have to take into consideration what fish you have or are gong to get with wood as it will turn your water acidic which is ideal for some fish.

Plus, you can find some driftwood for pretty cheap at your LFS... no need to go to the lake in search for some. Its a great addition, and looks great.
