is there some kind of general rule for how many fish per gallon or something as for the bio load.

When I was doing saltwater I did not go by inches;gallons.



I would look at body mass. For example



I had 1 yellow tang

a clown

chromis

and a few gobies.

I gave each fish 13-15 gallons.

You don't want to get 'risky' at all

Different fish have different Bioloads and require different habitats. It is more important to research and match the fish with the individual tank than sticking to a guideline of 'x' per 'y'

Why not post a tank details and a list of fish you liek and i'm sure people will help sort it out
