Evening all i currently have two strip bulbs in my tank these are on a timer and are on for around 10 hours aday that means when i get home from work the tank is dark. i have seen these moonlight LED strips on ebay are they ok to use in a tank. i just find that if i leave th main tank lights on for longer periods i get a large build up of alge on the glass im just looking for something a little more ambiant for the evenings

a few people use the blue LEDs,im tempted to get some too but im not too keen on havint to fit them into my hood and get a bigger multiplug extension to run another plug

just didnt no if it would cause any distress to the fish that was all ikea is the best for multi sockets you can get an 8 plug one for £6 :)

I was planning to put them hagen micro led lights in my main tank, has the twin bar tubes does tend to heat the water after a few hours,i bought one to try but there's hardly any light from them,i now use it in my fry tank.

I suppose all led lights are different but i wasn't impressed,i would have to buy dozen of them to light the tank

We have a 64 litre tank that came with both day and night lights and we love the night light better than the day light. It really sets the tank off on a night when its all dark. I'd certainly recommend getting one.

Altho we have noticed that it heats the water after a while...don't know if this will cause any harm to the fish or not? I wouldn't think so, I hope not.

You also have the option of just timing your photoperiods differently. We run a couple of hours early morning light and then it goes lights off all day while we're gone, only to come back on for a longer photoperiod in the evening when we're there to enjoy the tank. Its all done with the timers.
