Do you prefer a solid glass top lid for your aquarium or the plastic canopy kind? Which is actually better?

I have had both and now only have the plastic canopy kind, due to cost of the full glass top. But I think when I had full glass top, the aquarium got better light (to see everything inside). I also think it sealed better and I had less evaporation of the aquarium water.

Acrylic would actually be safest and best, it allows better light penetration than glass. Plastic will definitely be blocking some of your light. Since you wouldn't need it to very thick (say 5mm) it wouldn't even be that expensive for an acrylic lid, cut to measure.

Thanks for the suggestion. Sounds like a great idea. :)

Any suggestions on where I can purchase/ get one cut from?
