Tank Going Orange!

Hi everyone

Have noticed over the last couple of days that the tops of my rocks in my tank, and the filter are going orange.... Looks like a coating of some sort???

Also, two of my harlequins are looking orangier than usual...

Anyone know what is causing this?

i do have bogwood in the tank, but its been there since i set the tank up almost a year ago!! The only thing i have changed recently is I have put a new light tube in Give me a couple of mins and i'll get some pics up.

That really does look like some kind of algae to me. Esp because you said you have put a new bulb in. All the growth is appearing on top where the light directly hits. These fish like subdubed lighting, is the light you put in brighter?
The colour of a fish is determined by the pigment and the light reflection so if your light is brighter that could of a part to play in this.

Looks like brown algae to me, which is usually caused by cycling the tank... I don't really know why it happened to you... probably the bulb?

Another thing I noticed was the black molly. Is the white on the body it's coloration or is it a fungus?

Yeah, i had brown algae in my goldfish tanks for ages. Nothing to worry about really.

ok thanks for your help, it could be because i have also moved my plec on to a different home, he was good at keeping thre tank algae free.

Yes the balloon molly is white and black
